Requiem
We remember those who forgot their fate
The moon splits the night in half. The silver hammer breaks the obsidian night. Crooked branches frame the picture, Of the remembrance of old heroes. Marigolds color the trail, for those who crossed the veil. All souls who roam this Earth are summoned, by the scent of burning candles. A choir echoes, Kyrie Eleison! For the pale we speak today. From the dark road comes Alain, Wearing a muted white dress, She divides the crowd in half, The second moonlight of the night. Alain walks towards her mother, a meeting delayed by wet terrain. She finds her standing there, like a pyre with no fire. Two souls who mourn their loss, together, in silence they walk. Anima errans venit! “Sally's barks reached me today, I almost touched her fur”. Alain's mother remained cold, but there is no blame to hold, she built Sally's mourning tower, all alone in the cold October hours. Lacrimosa dies illa! Stars flutter and complement the choir. A procession of mourning hearts, beat and keep the music's time. To reach Sally's altar they march, Alain and her silent mom. Like a lighthouse it stands there, guiding those who sail away. Sally runs to meet her friend. Alain exclaims; “I am deceived by pain, or the veil is thin today!” Mortui advenerunt! Thunder rambles through the air, Alain and all present heard, A late miscarriage's wail. A curse of longer years ahead. A hearth with no more hearts to tend. And on the altar Alain saw, A picture of Sally, And a picture of herself.
